19-year-old Bailey Broderick killed after getting hit by a vehicle in Kalamazoo; DUI suspected (Kalamazoo, MI)

19-year-old Bailey Broderick, a Western Michigan student, lost her life after getting hit by a suspected drunk driver on Wednesday night.

Metro Detroit native Bailey Broderick was killed while crossing a street in Kalamazoo near campus, confirmed by her high school, St. Catherine of Siena Academy in Wixom. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The early reports showed that a 19-year-old man driving the car was taken into custody, and was believed to have been under the influence. The events that have led up to the accident remain unknown at this time. No other details are available.

The incident remains under active review.
