A tragedy struck on Tuesday at 8:20 p.m. north of Mission as a 19-year-old lost his life in a single-vehicle accident. The officials have since identified the victim as Alberto Rivier-Hernandez Roble, a resident of Peñitas.
Roble was driving a GMC southbound on La Homa Road, north of 4 Mile Road. According to preliminary investigations by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Roble inexplicably lost control of the vehicle, veering to the right and colliding with a metal traffic light pole.
Roble was critically injured and was transported to McAllen Medical Center for treatment. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
DPS troopers are diligently examining the circumstances surrounding this fatal crash. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the motor vehicle accident.
