The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident that killed an 18-year-old in Kings County on Monday. The Coroner’s office later identified the victim as Paula Chavez.
Roughly at 6:00 a.m., on Highway 43 and Pickerell Avenue in Corcoran, a semi-truck was travelling northbound. The truck then struck Chavez who was travelling eastbound.
Paula Chavez was killed at the scene as a result. The officers found out that Chavez was not wearing a seatbelt.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
