The San Benito Police Department reported a motor vehicle accident on Monday morning. The accident happened at around 2:06 a.m. According to a press release from the San Benito Police Department, officers were called to the 600 block of McCullough Street in reference to a single-vehicle rollover accident.
When they arrived, police found a white 2010 Cadillac Escalade that had rolled over and had stopped in a front yard. A man lying close to the car identified himself as the driver and claimed to have been ejected from it.
A man who was not breathing was found by the police lying in the backseat of the car. The victim, Jaime Abraham Samaniego, 18, of San Benito, was declared dead at the scene.
Serious injuries were sustained by the driver, who was taken to a nearby hospital. Investigations into the fatal crash are ongoing.
