The Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash in Denham Springs on Thursday afternoon.
The collision involved two vehicles.
The accident happened close to Sims Road on LA Highway at around 3 p.m.
Jaxen Joseph Ray, 18 was moving quickly south on LA Highway 16 when the accident occurred.
In a curve, Ray attempted to pass several cars but instead ran into a northbound Ford F-250 towing a trailer.
Ray was found to have fatal injuries and was declared dead at the scene.
The F-250’s driver and a young passenger both received minor injuries and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The Louisiana State Police continues to find that factors that contribute to crashes include speed, intoxication, distractions, and not wearing a seatbelt.
No further details are available regarding the fatal crash.
