The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle accident in Madera on Sunday. The accident occurred on the eastbound lanes of Avenue 12, just west of Road 30 ½ at around 2:50 a.m.
According to the officials, a vehicle was headed east on Avenue 12 at an unknown high speed when it lost control and drove off the roadway. The vehicle then crashed into a water main and overturned.
The vehicle’s driver was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known at this time. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
