The Cleveland Police Department reported a rollover accident that occurred at the end of a police chase on Sunday. The accident happened on FM 1485 and Interstate 69 at around 2:30 a.m.
According to the officials, a Hyundai Santa Fe was headed north on FM 1485 at an extremely high speed of 100 mph. The officials in the area attempted to stop the vehicle but the car fled.
The vehicle then lost control after failing to negotiate a curve as they tried to make a sharp 90-degree turn at US 59. This caused an 18-year-old passenger to be thrown from the vehicle and into a small water area before the vehicle rolled on top of him several times.
The boy was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal accident is still being investigated.
