According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a fatal crash was reported on Tuesday evening in Littlefield. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred east on SH 114 east of Gull Road. A Volkswagen Jetta gradually drifted into the south ditch and rolled.
The driver of the Jetta was identified as 18-year-old Aunika Francine Maes. Maes was transported to Covenant Hospital sustaining major injuries. She was later pronounced dead in the hospital.
Other insights into the collision have not been released yet. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The crash continues to be investigated by the TDPS.
