A tragic motor vehicle accident on Corpus Christi’s south side claimed the life of a 17-year-old female driver on November 12. The accident occurred at Wooldridge Road and Manuel Lane around 4:02 p.m.
The Corpus Christi police found a single-vehicle fatal crash involving the young driver. Medics worked swiftly to extricate her from the vehicle. She was found to be critically injured and was transported to a local hospital. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries later and was pronounced dead.
Traffic investigators determined that the 17-year-old was travelling at a high-speed west on Wooldridge Rd. Despite rainy conditions, she ran a red light at Cimarron Blvd., veering from her lane and colliding with a large metal power pole.
The victim’s identity remains undisclosed pending an autopsy by the Corpus Christi Medical Examiner’s Office.
