The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a motor vehicle accident in Johnson County on Tuesday. The accident occurred on FM 1902, 4 miles south of Crowley at around 3:06 p.m.
According to the officials, two vehicles were involved in a collision. A 2000 GMC Yukon was headed north on the road when it passed a vehicle in a no-passing zone. This caused it to crash head-on into a 2021 Ford Explorer.
The passenger present in the Yukon was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The officials have since identified the victim as 17-year-old Talan Jowers.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the authorities. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
