According to the Oceanside Police Department, a hit-and-run crash was reported on Thursday in Oceanside. Officials stated that the collision occurred in the area of North Harbor Drive near Santa Fe Avenue.
Authorities confirmed that one person was injured due to the accident.
A 17-year-old was found unresponsive in a parking lot. A 15-year-old was detained after he fled after striking the 17-year-old’s vehicle.
The injured 17-year-old was taken by helicopter to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries a day later. Other details including the identities of the teenagers and the vehicles involved remain unknown.
Alcohol is suspected to be a cause of the wreck. The crash continues to be investigated by the OPD.
