The Thurston County Police Department reported a motor vehicle crash on Saturday. The collision involved two cars. The accident happened on the 13800 block of Rainier Road SE at around 5:45 p.m.
The driver lost control of his car, causing him to drive into the lane of oncoming traffic. As a result, a southbound car struck the car on the passenger side.
17-year-old Jessie Uch, who was seated in the passenger seat, died as a result of that collision, according to police.
Police claim that the 18-year-old driver’s breath smelled of alcohol. Police said he was being held while a DUI investigation was being conducted and that he could be charged with assault and vehicular homicide.
The fatal collision is still being investigated.
