17-Year-Old Jerry Brantley Killed In A Multi-Vehicle Crash In Rusk County (Rusk County, TX)

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a multi-vehicle accident on March 15 in Rusk County. The crash occurred 5.5 miles southeast of Tatum on State Highway 149 around 7:56 a.m. 

According to the authorities, the crash involved a 2007 Chevrolet Colorado pickup and a 2019 Ford F-350 pickup. The Chevrolet was stopped at the intersection of FM 782 and SH 149 when it turned left without yielding to the oncoming Ford travelling southeast on SH 149. As a result, the driver of the Chevrolet was fatally injured and pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The victim was identified as 17-year-old Jerry Brantley of Tatum. 

The investigation into this incident remains ongoing. Another 23-year-old individual was also injured in the accident. It is not yet known whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
