17-Year-old Girl Died In A Motor Vehicle Crash In Rainier (Rainier, WA)

The Thurston County Sheriff’s Office reported a motor vehicle crash on Saturday evening in Rainier. The collision involved two vehicles.

An 18-year-old man was driving north in the 13800 block of Rainier Road Southeast when he struck a curb and swerved out of control at around 5:45 p.m. He entered the southbound lane and hit another car there. 

The 17-year-old passenger passed away at the scene. The driver’s injuries were treated at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia before being moved to Harborview Medical Center.

The 24-year-old female driver of the other vehicle was taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital to receive non-life-threatening medical treatment.

The 18-year-old driver was detained for drunk driving and will be prosecuted for vehicular assault and homicide. Their identities are not known at this time. 

The fatal collision is still being investigated.
