According to the California Highway Patrol, a fatal crash was reported in Temecula. Officials confirmed that one person died due to the motor vehicle accident.
Authorities stated that the collision occurred on SR-79 in Winchester. A GMC Sierra ran a red light and T-boned a vehicle driven by a teenager.
The occupants of the vehicle included 17-year-old Gia Rizzo, her boyfriend Gavin Hooper and 16-year-old Landis. Rizzo was pronounced dead at the scene of the wreck. Gavin and Landis were hospitalized sustaining serious injuries.
The driver of the truck has also been hospitalized. The crash continues to be investigated by the CHP.
