Authorities identified 17-year-old Christhian Alejandro Gil Bermudez, of Duluth, as the teenager who died following a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday in Barrow County.
The fatal car crash took place at about 12:31 p.m. on Patrick Mill Road. According to the investigation reports, the Dodge Charger Bermudez was riding in was heading north on Patrick Mill Road. For unknown reasons, the teenage driver failed to maintain control and the car rolled around, going outside of its lane.
Just then, a Dodge Ram truck heading southbound crashed into the passenger side of the car where Bermudez was sitting. The Charger was sent off the road ending up on the shoulder. Bermudez suffered major injuries and was declared dead at the scene by the officials.
The driver of that Charger, 18-year-old Juan Manuel Castro Delgado, from Bethlehem, suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center. Delgado will be charged in the crash once he is released from the hospital. According to the authorities, his injuries do not seem to be life-threatening.
There were also two occupants in the Dodge Ram, including a Winder woman and 7-year-old child. Both were transported by ambulance to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and are expected to fully recover. No other details are made available.
An investigation into the crash is continuing.
