The Donna Police Department reported a multi-vehicle accident that occurred on Sunday. The officials confirmed that one person died in the accident. According to the officials, the deceased victim was identified as 17-year-old Anuar Jibi.
Around 3:20 a.m., the crash happened in the eastbound lane of Expressway 83, near the Main Street overpass. A gray Volkswagen car was travelling the wrong way on the eastbound lanes of the expressway and nearly collided with a DPS trooper.
The vehicle then crashed into the students head-on near Main Street. The students were travelling in a white Toyota SUV. Jobi was pronounced dead at the scene.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
