Houston police are currently investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Monday, February 26, on the Katy Freeway. The multi-vehicle accident, which took place around 1:05 p.m. at the 5900 block of the freeway, resulted in the tragic death of a 16-year-old male.
The identity of the victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. According to reports from the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, a white Ford Ranger pickup truck was stationary on the freeway’s main lanes when it was rear-ended by a white Ford Transit 350 van.
The young male driver of the pickup was rushed to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. Three passengers in the pickup sustained injuries but are in stable condition. The driver of the van, who remained at the scene, was found to be sober. No charges have been filed yet.
