The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Wilmington Post is investigating a single-vehicle crash that occurred on SR 73 in Highland County on Saturday, April 20, 2024, around 7:20 A.M. The driver, Briannika Tolle, 17, from Hillsboro, lost control of a 2014 Ford Focus near Berryville Road, striking a mailbox and a tree.
Tolle sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to Miami Valley Hospital. Backseat passengers Riddick Rankin, 17, and Addison Howard, 15, both from Peebles, were also injured.
Tragically, Howard succumbed to his injuries two days later at Miami Valley Hospital. Rankin was treated at Highland District Hospital. The Highway Patrol was assisted by various agencies, and the crash investigation is ongoing.
