The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department reported a pedestrian accident in Apple Valley. It resulted in the death of a 12-year-old child, identified as Journee Buchanan Williams.
At around 11:00 p.m., a white Ford Transit driven by 58-year-old Darren Rottino struck Buchanan Williams in a crosswalk on State Highway 18 at Apple Valley Road. She was critically injured and was initially transported to the hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead later.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
