Police responded to a motor vehicle crash that killed a 12-year-old on Friday night. The crash happened near Pardee Avenue and Annapolis Street in Dearborn Heights around 10:30 p.m.
A preliminary investigation revealed a black Jeep driver stooped at the intersection before hitting the 12-year-old boy.
Speed or alcohol does not seem to be a factor in the crash.
According to the neighbours, police performed CPR when they arrived at the scene.
The boy was identified as Joseph Smith, who succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
The vehicle driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with the police.
