The Texas Department of Public Safety reported a hit-and-run accident that occurred in Midland last week. The accident occurred in the 1900 block of S. Lamesa, near the IDEA campus.
According to the officials, a vehicle and a pedestrian were involved in a collision. The events leading up to the crash are not entirely clear at this time. The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officials have since identified the driver of the vehicle involved. Rogelio Ortiz Olivas, 50, has been arrested in connection with the deadly fatal crash and faces charges including a hit-and-run accident and driving while under the influence.
