1-year-old child dead and two people injured following a wreck on I-80 near Fairfield (Fairfield, CA)

A 1-year-old child was killed and two people received injuries following a multi-vehicle wreck Thursday morning on eastbound Interstate Highway 80 near Davis.

As per the initial information, the three-vehicle pile-up was reported at about 4:05 a.m. on eastbound Highway 80 west of Richards Boulevard, in Solano County near the line with Yolo County. The early reports showed that a 42-year-old man was driving a Toyota Avalon when it collided with the center guardrail and came to a rest in the No. 2 eastbound lane, where it got hit by a box truck and a Toyota Tacoma.

The 1-year-old died as a result of the crash while the Avalon driver and a second person both sustained major injuries. The identity of the deceased will be released once the next of kin is notified. No other details were provided.

The wreck remains under active review.
