The California Highway Patrol reported a motor vehicle collision that claimed the life of a woman and left others injured in Carlsbad on Sunday.
At around 10:00 p.m., near Southbound I-5, Canon Road, a pickup truck travelling at a high speed hit the back of a Black Sedan. The events leading up to this collision are not clear at this time.
Out of three passengers travelling in the sedan, one woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The other passengers were transported to the hospital. Later, the driver of the pickup truck was arrested for DUI.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
