The Washington State Patrol reported a motor vehicle crash in Renton. The accident happened on Interstate 405 close to State Route 169.
A semi-truck was rear-ended by a car just north of SR 169, according to the WSP. The events leading up to this crash are not yet known at this time.
The woman passenger died at the scene and the male driver of the vehicle was critically hurt in the collision. The name and identity of the victims have not been made public yet.
It is unsure what caused the crash. Whether drugs or alcohol were involved is yet to be found.
The fatal crash investigation is still ongoing. While crews are on the scene, the right lane is blocked. On northbound I-405 there is a four-mile-long traffic backup, according to WSDOT.
