The South Whatcom Fire Authority reported a deadly pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian near the railroad tracks below the 1100 block of Chuckanut.
On Sunday, a person was struck by a freight train in Bellingham and was killed at the scene. When the fire crews arrived at the spot they found the man dead. The exact reason behind the presence of the man on the tracks is not known.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated by the officers. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. No further information is available at the moment.
