According to the California Highway Patrol, a multi-vehicle crash occurred on Highway 101 north of Santa Rosa that left a person dead.
On Thursday night, roughly at 9:44 p.m., a Nissan Sentra was travelling in the wrong way, southbound on Highway 101’s northbound lanes near Dutcher Creek Road. It collided head-on with a GMC Yukon that was travelling northbound US-101, north of Canyon Road. This collision led both vehicles to catch fire.
The driver of the Nissan was killed at the scene and the GMC driver was airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital with major injuries.
The identity of the deceased driver is not disclosed yet. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
