In the early hours of Saturday morning, a tragic single-car collision claimed the life of a male driver on Interstate 280, as reported by the California Highway Patrol. The motor vehicle accident occurred when the southbound-bound driver lost control of the vehicle. It then collided with the concrete lane divider just south of El Monte Road in Los Altos Hills.
Authorities were alerted to the crash at 3:35 a.m. The driver was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. In response to the incident, the freeway endured a temporary closure from 4:48 a.m. to 5:26 a.m.
Presently, the cause of the fatal crash remains unknown. The involvement of alcohol or drugs, as well as speed has not been confirmed. The identity of the driver has been withheld, pending confirmation and notification of next of kin.
