The San Jose Police Department reported a two-vehicle collision on Thursday.
The accident occurred on Cottle Road and Coronado Avenue at around 4 p.m.
The officials reported that a motorcycle had been struck by a sports-utility vehicle.
The motorcyclist was critically injured in the accident and was taken to a local hospital. It was later reported that he passed away from the injuries.
The identity of the deceased was not disclosed.
The driver of the SUV remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation.
The cause of the accident is still being investigated.
It is not known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal accident.
