Daniel Matos Guadarrama, 26, of Yountville, tragically lost his life in a fatal incident early Saturday on Silverado Trail North, according to the Napa County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office.
Guadarrama’s vehicle had broken down on Silverado Trail north of Oak Knoll Avenue, leading him to be outside his car around 4:10 a.m.
For reasons yet unknown, Guadarrama was moving about the roadway when a woman driving a silver Toyota RAV4 SUV southbound at approximately 55 mph collided with him. The impact caused major injuries to Guadarrama, who sadly did not survive.
An off-duty Sonoma County sheriff’s deputy provided medical aid at the scene. The California Highway Patrol indicated that visibility issues due to Guadarrama’s car headlights might have contributed to the tragic accident.
Investigations regarding Guadarrama’s sobriety and other factors are ongoing. The woman driving the SUV showed no signs of impairment, according to the CHP.
