The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a pedestrian accident involving a big rig truck on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) in Malibu. The incident occurred at the Cross Creek Road intersection around 6:30 a.m.
According to the authorities, a pedestrian was fatally struck by the truck and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the truck remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement during the investigation. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed at the moment.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs played any role in the collision. The accident prompted the closure of a portion of the highway for nearly five hours on Friday morning.
