A tragic incident unfolded on Monday night as a man was hit and killed by a vehicle, leading to the closure of all northbound lanes of the North Freeway at West Road, according to the Houston Police Department (HPD).
HPD and Houston Fire Department (HFD) responded to the scene around 8 p.m. Unfortunately, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Police have reported that the driver involved in the collision remained at the scene and was not impaired.
They are fully cooperating with the ongoing investigation. The circumstances surrounding why the pedestrian was on the freeway remain unknown at this time, as authorities continue their efforts to piece together the details of this fatal crash.
