A tragic incident unfolded in the Galleria area on Wednesday morning as a pedestrian crossing Westheimer Road was struck by a car, leading to his death at the hospital, as reported by Houston police.
The collision occurred around 7:30 a.m. when a vehicle traveling eastbound collided with the pedestrian attempting to cross Westheimer Road from north to south at Sage Road.
The impact resulted in the pedestrian being thrown into a second vehicle waiting to make a turn at the intersection.
Although witnesses at the scene performed CPR on the injured man, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. Police are investigating the incident, including whether the driver was intoxicated and the circumstances of the collision. The intersection was temporarily closed as authorities conducted their investigation.
