The Yakima County Sheriff’s Office reported a pedestrian accident in Yakima on Tuesday. The accident occurred in the 2300 block of West Wapato Road at around 11:15 p.m.
According to the officials, a man had been crossing the road when he was hit by a vehicle. The vehicle did not remain at the scene and fled before the police could arrive.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed at this time.
The officials have not disclosed any details regarding the vehicle involved in the vehicle. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the fatal collision. There are no other details available at this time.
