A tragedy unfolded on the 101 Freeway in Ventura on Sunday night when an Oxnard man lost his life in a fatal collision. The pedestrian accident occurred around 9:45 p.m. in the southbound lanes north of Seaward Avenue.
The pedestrian, whose identity remains undisclosed, was standing in the No. 1 lane. He was struck by a 2019 Ford Ranger travelling at approximately 65 to 70 mph. Despite wearing dark-coloured clothing, the pedestrian was hit and came to a rest in the traffic lane.
Subsequently, two other unidentified vehicles also struck the victim before emergency personnel could arrive. The man was fatally injured and was pronounced dead in the fatal crash. The Ranger driver stayed and is cooperating with the investigation.
