A tragedy unfolded on Monday morning at the intersection of East Mill Plain Boulevard and V Street. A pedestrian, clad in dark clothing but within a marked crosswalk, lost their life.
The pedestrian accident occurred around 6 a.m., before sunrise. The Vancouver police, conducting the investigation, revealed that the pedestrian was crossing from the south. They had not activated the overhead crosswalk lights before entering. The westbound vehicle’s driver, unable to stop in time despite spotting the pedestrian, was neither speeding, impaired, nor distracted.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the victim remains undisclosed. The Vancouver police traffic unit is investigating the unfortunate fatal crash.
