A tragedy struck on Interstate 10 in central Phoenix early Sunday morning, resulting in the closure of eastbound lanes for several hours after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a car. The deadly fatal crash occurred around 4:20 a.m. near milepost 146, between 7th and 16th streets, as the pedestrian was running in the eastbound lanes for unknown reasons.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety reported that the individual was pronounced dead at the scene, with the driver remaining on-site. The identity of the victim is not yet known at this time.
Eastbound lanes were temporarily closed at 7th Street for investigation but reopened just after 8 a.m. This pedestrian accident is still being investigated at this time.
