A tragic pedestrian accident unfolded on Friday night on the 101 Freeway, resulting in the death of a man who was struck by multiple vehicles. According to authorities, the preliminary investigation suggests that the man was hit by “upwards of seven cars” on the northbound lanes of 101, south of Vineyard Avenue in Oxnard around 9:15 p.m.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a vehicle colliding with a pedestrian. Despite multiple drivers remaining at the scene and cooperating with authorities, the victim, initially struck by a 19-year-old, succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that none of the motorists involved were under the influence of drugs or alcohol. However, it remains unknown if the victim was impaired at the time of the fatal crash or why he was on the freeway.
