In a tragic incident on Friday night, a female pedestrian was fatally struck by a San Jose-bound Amtrak train in Oakland. The pedestrian accident occurred at approximately 7:14 p.m. at 49th Avenue, involving Amtrak train 547 en route from Sacramento to San Jose.
According to Kimberly Woods, an Amtrak spokesperson, the individual was trespassing on the tracks when the fatal crash took place. The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. Fortunately, none of the 145 passengers or crew members aboard the train reported any injuries.
Amtrak is collaborating with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Department for a thorough investigation. The identity of the deceased is pending notification of next of kin.
