The California Highway Patrol reported a pedestrian accident that occurred on Monday, and confirmed that one person died in the accident. The deceased victim has not been identified.
According to a news release from the CHP, a preliminary investigation determined that the female victim was crossing the street from south to north. She was struck by the Cadillac as the driver was heading east. The driver that struck her remained at the scene.
The authorities are still investigating the cause of the fatal crash. It is unknown whether any form of impairment such as alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
