According to the Modesto Police Department, a pedestrian accident that took place in Modesto claimed the life of a woman on Friday. The accident occurred on the northbound Highway 99 offramp at 6th Street.
Roughly at 8:50 p.m., a vehicle was traveling down the highway when it struck a woman and escaped the scene. The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead even after being provided with treatment.
The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
