The California Highway Patrol said that on Tuesday a pedestrian accident killed one person in La Mesa.
Approximately at 8:33 a.m., a person was hit by a vehicle on Interstate 8 eastbound, West of Spring Street. The vehicle involved in the collision fled the scene before the police could arrive. The officials have not disclosed any details regarding the vehicle.
The pedestrian was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. No further information is available at the moment.
