A tragic pedestrian accident unfolded on US State Highway 155 near South Mulberry Road around 6:30 a.m. A woman, assisting children boarding a school bus with a flashlight, was fatally struck by a pickup truck.
The driver allegedly failed to stop for the bus, with its lights on and the stop sign deployed. The woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the deceased victim has not been disclosed at this time.
The driver reportedly faces charges and is being held in Upshur County Jail. The fatal crash is still being investigated at this time. The officials have not reported if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
