The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported a multi-vehicle accident in Moreno Valley on March 28. The crash occurred during a police pursuit that resulted in the death of a passenger and serious injuries to two others.
According to the authorities, the pursuit commenced around 1 a.m. Thursday when a CHP officer attempted to pull over a Kia K900 for running a red light without headlights on Perris Boulevard. Instead of stopping, the 19-year-old driver accelerated to 90 mph, leading to a reckless chase through various streets. The Kia ultimately crashed on Gentian Avenue, colliding with parked vehicles.
Emergency responders had to extricate the trapped passengers from the wreckage. Sadly, one passenger succumbed to their injuries, while two others sustained serious injuries. The driver was arrested following the crash.
