A fatal crash occurred on Highway 290 westbound Friday morning, resulting in one person’s death and at least one other individual being injured. Austin-Travis County EMS reported the crash around 6:15 a.m. near 8700-9114 East U.S. 290, east of Hwy 183, indicating potential involvement of multiple vehicles.

The crash scene saw one person pronounced dead, and another was deemed a trauma alert, and subsequently transported to Dell Seton Hospital with potentially serious injuries, as per ATCEMS.

Austin Police Department confirmed that the deceased individual was a man. Following the crash, all westbound lanes of Hwy 290 were temporarily closed but have since reopened to traffic. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident on the highway.
