The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department reported a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles that resulted in the death of a person in Perris on Tuesday.
At Evans Road and Whispering Wood Lane, approximately at 6:40 p.m., a 2020 Honda Fit was attempting to make a southbound turn. At the same time, a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder which was travelling northbound collided with the Honda.
The driver of the Honda was fatally injured and was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the dead is not yet disclosed. The driver of the Nissan fled the scene before the police could arrive.
It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated.
