A tragedy unfolded Thursday in a head-on collision between a big rig and a pickup truck near Woodland, according to the California Highway Patrol’s Woodland office. The multi-vehicle accident occurred around 10:45 a.m. on County Road 27 near County Road 94.
The eastbound big rig drifted right, prompting the driver to swerve left, overcorrect, and collide with the westbound pickup truck. The driver of the pickup, traveling on westbound County Road 27, was fatally injured. The identity of the dead has not been disclosed.
The status of the semi-truck driver remains unclear, with ongoing investigations to determine potential injuries or culpability. The fatal crash, situated approximately seven miles from Woodland, marks another tragic episode highlighting the importance of road safety.
