The California Highway Patrol reported a wrong-way crash on Saturday. The accident occurred on Interstate Highway 280, south of State Routh 92 in Woodside.
According to the officials, a white Ford sedan was headed north on the southbound lanes. This caused it to come into the path of a southbound black BMW and the two vehicles collided.
The driver of the BMW identified only as a woman in her late 40s, incurred fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in her vehicle, a 14-year-old boy, was taken to a hospital with major injuries. Their identities are not yet known at this time.
The cause of the fatal crash is still being investigated. It is not yet known if alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. There are no other details available at this time.
