A tragedy struck Snohomish County on Wednesday night as one person lost their life in a head-on collision, according to the Snohomish County Fire District. The two-car collision occurred on state Route 2 near Three Lakes Road around 7 p.m.
Upon arrival, Snohomish County sheriff deputies discovered both drivers trapped inside their vehicles. Despite efforts by crews from Snohomish Regional Fire and Rescue, one individual was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal crash. The identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
The second driver remained trapped for 12 minutes until the first responders successfully extricated them from the car. The cause of the multi-vehicle accident is currently under investigation by the Washington State Patrol (WSP), while State Route 2 was temporarily closed for hours to facilitate the investigation. The roadway has since reopened to traffic.
