A tragedy struck in Scottsdale as a fatal crash involving two vans unfolded around 3 p.m. The accident occurred just west of 84th Street and Shea Boulevard on Tuesday afternoon.
Emergency crews, including those from Scottsdale and Tempe, rushed to the scene, discovering a minivan and a commercial van, the latter belonging to the Cave Creek Unified School District. Five people suffered serious injuries in the collision. A woman was fatally injured and was pronounced dead.
The identity of the deceased victim is not yet known at this time. Fortunately, no students were on board the school van at the time. The multi-vehicle accident prompted the closure of Shea Boulevard between 84th Street and Hayden Road, later reopening after the initial investigation.
